Eyelid Surgery

We can help you improve tired, puffy and sagging eyelids.  Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is surgery designed to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes—resulting in a more youthful appearance.  Heavy upper eyelids can impair peripheral vision and cause difficulty when opening the eye.  Eye fatigue often accompanies ptosis (heaviness) of the eyelids.

What does Eyelid Surgery involve?

During the procedure for the upper eyelid, an incision is made within the natural crease of the eyelid to allow access to underlying tissue.  Excess fatty tissue is removed or repositioned; muscles are tightened and excess skin is removed.  Lower eyelid surgery involves an incision just below the lash line or just inside the lower eyelid that permits access to and removal of excess skin and fat.  The incisions are closed with sutures, adhesives and surgical tape.  Surgery may be performed under general or local anesthetic.
